Event Photography – Richmond Gogos 4th Annual Gala Richmond Curling Club 7Nov2013

This is my third year sponsoring the Richmond Gogos Annual Gala Event held at the Richmond Curling Club on 7 Nov 2013.

What’s a Gogo?

Gogo is a Zulu word meaning “grandmother”.  Greater Van Gogos are grandmothers and ‘grandothers’ working in groups to support African grandmothers raising a generation of children orphaned by AIDS.

There were silent auction, door prizes, hand made crafts and some items from projects in Africa as well as the fabulous Kazuri jewellery from Kenya (which I bought a couple myself), great food / dessert and live auction.

Special Thanks to City of Richmond’s City Councillor Bill McNulty for being the 3rd year as the live Auctioneer for the evening.

All the proceeds from the Gala go to the Grandmothers’ Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The Grandmothers’ Campaign supports grassroots projects in 15 African countries.
